What Are Profhilo® Treatments?

Profhilo® is an injectable treatment made from ultra-pure, highly concentrated Hyaluronic Acid. Unlike traditional fillers, Profhilo® uses thermally stabilized HA without any chemical cross-linking agents, making it a pure and natural option for skin rejuvenation. It is injected just beneath the skin to hydrate and remodel the skin's underlying structures, making it suitable for all skin types.

How Do Profhilo® Cosmetic Injectables Work?

Our skin naturally contains collagen, elastin, and Hyaluronic Acid, which help maintain its structure, firmness, and hydration. As we age, the production of these substances slows, leading to sagging, fine lines, and reduced skin quality. Profhilo® works in two powerful ways:

• Upon injection, it spreads evenly under the skin, providing instant hydration.

Treatment Process

During the treatment, tiny injections of Profhilo® are administered at specific points just beneath the skin using fine needles. The process is quick and generally well-tolerated, though a topical anesthetic can be applied if desired. The injection sites may appear slightly raised or bumpy for a short time after the procedure, but this usually resolves within 30 minutes to 24 hours.

Treatment Duration and Appointments

Your first appointment will take approximately 45 minutes and includes a consultation. The actual injection time is around 10-15 minutes. Subsequent appointments for follow-up treatments will take about 20-30 minutes.

If a local anesthetic cream is required, please allow an additional 20-30 minutes for it to take effect.

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

Our recommended treatment protocol for Profhilo® is as follows:

• Face and neck: Two treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. A third treatment may be recommended at 3-6 months for some individuals, depending on their skin condition.
• Arms, legs, abdomen: Two treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

When Will I See Results?

You will notice improved hydration within a week of your treatment. By three months, you will start to see the full effects, with smoother, tighter, and more rejuvenated skin. The results of Profhilo® last between 6-9 months, depending on your skin and individual factors. Annual treatments are recommended to maintain the results, with some patients opting for a top-up treatment every six months.

How Is Profhilo® Different from Fillers?

Profhilo® is unlike traditional wrinkle or filler treatments. It is not designed to volumize like dermal fillers or target muscles like botulinum toxin treatments. Instead, Profhilo® is a bio-remodeling agent that stimulates your skin’s natural collagen and elastin production, providing a safer and more holistic approach to skin rejuvenation. It also has fewer side effects and does not alter facial contours like traditional fillers.

Combining Profhilo® with Other Treatments

Profhilo® can be combined with other cosmetic treatments such as botulinum toxin or dermal fillers. However, it is often recommended to perform these treatments in separate sessions. If you're considering treatments like IPL, chemical peels, or microdermabrasion, it's best to have them either 2 weeks before or after your Profhilo® session. More intensive treatments such as radiofrequency or fractional resurfacing should be spaced at least 4 weeks apart from Profhilo®.

Safety and Side Effects

Profhilo® is a highly biocompatible treatment, using pure Hyaluronic Acid that is naturally found in the skin. It is free from chemical additives and cross-linking agents, making it very well tolerated, with allergies being rare. Since its introduction in 2015 by IBSA, a Swiss pharmaceutical company, over one million treatments have been administered with no serious adverse effects reported.

Minor side effects include localized swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness, and itching, which typically resolve within 24-72 hours. More rare complications such as infection, hard lumps, or vascular occlusion are possible but can be treated if they arise.
