What is Xeomin®?

Xeomin® is a Prescription Medicine containing 50, 100 units of incobotulinum Type A, purified Botulinum toxin type A complex for injection.

It is used for the treatment of frown lines on the forehead, lateral periorbital lines and horizontal forehead lines in adults. It should be administered only by trained medical professionals.

Unlike other neuromodulators like Botox, Xeomin is free from unnecessary proteins, which means it contains only the active ingredient that helps relax facial muscles. This can make Xeomin an ideal choice for those who want a more purified treatment with fewer additives.

Xeomin is commonly used to treat moderate to severe frown lines (glabellar lines) between the eyebrows, but it can also be used for other areas where dynamic wrinkles form, such as crow's feet and forehead lines.

Xeomin works by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles and fine lines to form as a result of facial expressions. When injected into targeted muscles, it blocks the nerve signals that cause these muscles to contract, allowing the overlying skin to smooth out. Over time, this reduces the appearance of wrinkles, giving you a more youthful and rested look.

How long do the injections treatment results last?

Xeomin treatment lasts about four months and further courses of treatment may be necessary.

Most patients begin to see the results of Xeomin within 3 to 5 days of treatment, with full effects visible after about 7-10 days. The results typically last between 3 and 4 months, after which the treatment can be repeated to maintain the desired look. Regular treatments can help prevent the formation of deeper lines and wrinkles over time.

Xeomin vs. Botox ( Botulinum Toxin ): What’s the Difference?

While Xeomin and Botox are both neuromodulators that work in similar ways, there are some key differences between the two:

  • Purity: Xeomin is a purified neurotoxin that contains no additional proteins, making it less likely for patients to develop resistance to the treatment. Botox, on the other hand, contains accessory proteins.
  • Onset of Results: Both treatments offer quick results, though some patients may notice that Xeomin takes a day or two longer to show full effects compared to Botox.
  • Usage: The choice between Xeomin and Botox often comes down to personal preference or a recommendation from your provider based on your individual needs.
